In my early 20s I was a student studying in Italy. Whenever we went out to a bar or had a party on the beach there would always be a guy in the group who would have his guitar with him and would spontaneously and effortlessly start playing, much to the delight of all of us.
I was jealous. I wanted to be him. Seemed so bloody cool!
So I eventually I asked to borrow someones guitar and then, for the whole year, I let it sit idly in the corner of my room doing nothing except remind me of the life I wanted but was not willing or confident enough to make happen.
Now in my 50s, and living on a Greek island, I’ve decided to turn that long held, nearly forgotten dream, into a reality. I ordered a cheap Yamaha guitar in the post.
Today was my first lesson with my friend Steve Weeks, sitting outside the coolest musicians bar on the island (in fact it was originally a music school back in the day) I learned my first few chords as local residents passed by and cheered me on.
One day I too will spontaneously and effortlessly play an evening in this bar… and you know what..I’m looking forward to it 😊
Thank you Steve for your support.
It’s never to late to start anything 😎
